Webb's Wonderful Lettuce

Vegetables

The 'Iceberg' lettuce with its massive firm head and long growing season.

Developed around 1890 by Clarence Webb, a horticulturist who worked to promote allotments during WW1. His extensive 'Horticultural Stores and Nursery' were on the site in Kendal now occupied by the Marks and Spencer store.
