Steak and Kidney Pie

Pies and Pastries

Double-crust pie filled with approximately equal quantities of chunked beef and kidney gobbets in gravy. May include onion, but no other vegetables.

Known since 'The frugal cook' by E. Carter, 1851, this is, in part, a more recent and surviving version of the ancient 'Umble Pie'.
