Brewis or Bruette Sauce

A herb and spice sauce thickened with bread. The dish is known at least since the Middle English romance, the 14th Century 'Lay of Havelok the Dane', and is referenced repeatedly up to the early 20th Century.

A Brewis Soup can also be made.
