Sponge cakes with sweet spices, dusted with sugar. Known only from Vine's Shop Goods...

No. 102.Tavistock Cakes

2 1/4 lbs. soda flour (No. 1); 3/4 lb. sugar.
1/2 lb. butter; 1 oz. mixed spice
3 eggs; Milk.

Mode. - Cream up the butter and sugar in a pan with the ground spice; add the eggs in the usual manner; then mix in the flour vrith milk, and fill into large round crinkled pans with a palette knife; dust sugar over, and bake in a warm oven. Sell at 1d. each.
